Will Evans, founder and publisher of Deep Vellum Publishing has just been welcomed as the newest member of Trafika Europe’s Board of Advisors. Deep Vellum is an exciting new not-for-profit publishing house devoted to literary translation, with the mission to “promote translation as a vital part of our literary culture.”
By all accounts, Will himself is a uniquely charismatic spokesman for literary translation – a great boon for this growing art. Although they’ve just come out with their first title only a few months ago, Flavorwire already identifies Deep Vellum as one of the five small publishers changing the face of the industry!
For a longer introduction to Will’s views and enthusiasm, check out this article by him, I Want You To Start Your Own Publishing House, published by our friends over at The Brooklyn Quarterly. Deep Vellum Publishing represents a new kind of spirit in the world of literary translation, one which we at Trafika Europe certainly share. We look forward so much to working with Will and Deep Vellum over the coming months; we’re grateful for the wealth of ideas and experience he brings.
