The Norwegian Festival of Literature

The Norwegian Festival of Literature is the largest of its kind in the Nordic countries, and the most important literary meeting place each spring. At the end of May, literature fills the streets of Lillehammer. For 6 days – 30,000 visitors and around 400 writers and artists come from all over the world to partake in literary discussion and debate. The Norwegian Festival of Literature hosts a diverse program, catering to readers of all ages, to experience live literature, engage with authors, and explore current affairs. Previous notable attendees to the festival earlier years include: Karl Ove Knausgård, Svetlana Aleksijevits, J.M. Coetzee, Herta Müller, Adonis, Margaret Atwood, and Edouard Louis. Exhibiting on stage conversations, debates, lectures, readings, award ceremonies, exhibitions, seminars, shows, quizzes and other festivities, there is something for every literary scholar.
